Good Energy doubles exclusive solar export payments

08/21/2024

New 40p per kilowatt hour rate is the highest export tariff rate available to UK solar households.

Solar Savings Exclusive rate could mean free electricity for a typical home with a 10 panel solar and storage installation.

Good Energy Solar customers will now be able to access an exclusive 40p per kilowatt hour export tariff as the company has doubled its Solar Savings Exclusive rate.

The new rate, which is fixed for 12 months, makes Solar Savings Exclusive the highest smart solar export tariff available on the market. It is available for customers who have installed their solar and battery storage through Good Energy, and could see customers effectively receiving free electricity after their bill reductions and export payments1. Saving enough for Eurostar tickets and a family hotel room in Paris for five days for two adults and two children.

With 10 panel solar and storage installations from £10,500, this means customers could pay off more than 8% of the upfront costs in a year.

To be eligible for the tariff customers must have installed solar array and battery storage through Good Energy Solar, have a smart meter and be on one of Good Energy’s supply tariffs.

Tom Parsons, director of sales and origination, Good Energy said: “Since Good Energy launched HomeGen — the first ever export tariff for UK homes with solar — 20 years ago, we have been committed to helping people to become generators of renewable power themselves. With this new export rate we wanted to make it abundantly clear that helping those microgenerators remains absolutely core to what we do.

“Doubling what was already a competitive export tariff to match the best rates on the market shows exactly that. That customers could make enough for their electricity to effectively free is fantastic. They will be saving enough for a low carbon Parisian break with the family, but other options for how to spend your Solar Savings are available of course!”
